Most of the strategies in clarinet design are actually 100 years old. One area that continues to be in flux, however, is the manufacture of clarinet reeds. While one of the best reeds are said to come back from a species of cane grown in France, some gamers and makers are experimenting with wild cane that grows in California. Synthetic reeds have also been developed recently, and more analysis is being done to enhance them. As assets of natural cane diminish, and general great is not high, artificial reeds may be what most clarinet avid gamers use in the future. Who invented the clarinet is not as easy a question to reply as asking who invented an alternate woodwind device like the saxophone. While bound people can be credited with the development of major changes that have lead to the trendy clarinet family, the historical past of the clarinet is one of constant evolution. Single reed gadgets can be traced back to Ancient Egypt, and the medieval precursor to the clarinet, the chalumeau, can probably trace its origins back to these devices, via the Greeks and Romans. However, it was not until the early 18th century that woodwind maker Johann Denner died 1707 added two keys to the chalumeau, an innovation that is commonly credited with being the discovery of the modern clarinet.
